What Gum Are You Chewing?

Although many people like to chew gum, everyone knows that chewing gum can cause cavities. Or does it? The ADA (American Dental Association) now has a safety seal for certain sugarless gums that have been shown to be actually beneficial to teeth. Some gums can reduce plaque acids, promote remineralization of tooth enamel, reduce cavities and/or reduce gingivitis. To earn the ADA Seal of Acceptance, studies must also show that the gum is safe to oral tissues according to results of both laboratory studies and clinical studies in humans.
